HELP!!!

I know it's been FOREVER...but before I realise it, another year will have gone by...so I thought I should keep you updated on at least a few of the many wonderful developments in my life...

Check out the 'dates' section. Some new and exciting things are happening and I am looking forward to them...I'll be part of an event that's taking place at the Temple Bar on April 15. 2007 - Girls Gone World!!!

www.myspace.com/thegirlsgoneworld

Alex & I will be performing with Satnam Singh Ramgotra for the first time which is so wonderful...and it is the first time in my life that I will be sharing an evening with 2 other Indian singers...whose 'homes are everywhere and yet no place' (Manisha Shahane). It's going to be an exciting evening for all of us!

I'll also be performing at the Baked Potato for the first time on May 13. 2007 - yes, that is Mother's Day here in the U.S. of A. So I hope all of you bring your mothers, partners, children...and, of course, anyone and everyone is welcome. This will be a relaxed, intimate and 'jazzy-ish' evening. Still don't know who'll be joining us but will keep you posted.

...oh, and the album(s) that were planned are still planned...work in progress, so to speak and taking their own sweet time! :-)

So I won't talk about future projects as yet. When I'm ready (or when 'they' are ready for me), you'll be the first to know.

Thanks for bearing with me!

All good things to all of you,
Sumitra

May 2006

Hello everyone,

It's been a while...my apologies to all of you!
Alex and I will be back at the Temple Bar on May 23rd at 8.30...earlier this time so if you feel like joining us, we'd be delighted!!! :)
Many of you have been asking me about the kweevak.com voting. First of all, thanks again to ALL of you for your support. I think voting ends today, so I hope to hear soon and will definitely keep you posted.
In June/July, I should be featured in an interview with UNSIGNED Music Magazine (check out unsignedmusicmag.com). UNSIGNED is the largest magazine dedicated to indie music and they're absolutely wonderful! They also put together an IMix on ITunes: UNSIGNED Music Magazine's 'Best of...Show#1' with one of my tracks on it - Destiny 2001. A big thank you to Ian Cole and everyone at UNSIGNED!
My publicist, Pat Tynan has been busy working for me in the UK. It's been an interesting process. Surprisingly many of the Asian networks responded quite soon and before I knew it I was on the phone doing a live interview with the BBC Asian Network. THANK YOU PAT...and thanks to everyone who 'rated' 'indian girl' on Adil Ray's show!
Alex's new album is being mastered at the moment and we'll keep you updated on that as well! Guess what? I'm on it too!!! :) I'm on an 'out of this world' version of 'indian girl' AND Terry & I are finally on a track together, so I have a lot to be proud of...it's well worth listening to...absolutely amazing!
Keep checking back...and I'll keep doing my best to stay on top of things!

Peace, love and thanks,
Sumitra

November 2005

HAPPY DIWALI!
All good things to you on this day and always!

September 2005

12th October marks our 'first anniversary' in LA!
It's been quite a year for both of us...
Apart from making this big step across the ocean, travelling has definitely been at the top of our list: I got back from an amazing trip to India recently and am feeling very connected and content. Alex was in Europe soon after that and I'll be going to Vienna for work in November. My 'alma mater', Webster University, has invited me to perform at their 25th Anniversary Celebration in Vienna. Then we both go to India in December, this time performing...and this time will be Alex's first time there...
I can't think of a better way to end the year.
Here in LA we'll be part of the Desert Song Festival in November. A big thank you to Linda for sharing and Wayne for squeezing us in at the last minute...and we're back at Rico's in October. This time James Hurley will be joining us and he's brilliant! So if you're in the area do stop by.
All good things to you,
Sumitra

August 2005

I know, I know - IT'S BEEN TOO LONG!
I’m off to India very soon. Time to reconnect and celebrate…I shall be looking into some opportunities there…so keep your fingers crossed…it’s all very exciting…
...here's a quick update:

R E V I E W S & A I R P L A Y
'indian girl' has been receiving many reviews thanks to my publicist, Rhonda Kelley, who is simply the best! Have a look at my ‘press section’.

Airplay:
radiononsense.com
2MCR Radio
http://www.luver.com
WJSK Radio
The Michael Anthony Show http://www.michaelanthonyshow.com,
Relax Radio www.relaxradio.net.au,
ILR Australian Worldwide Radio Network http://www.isonliveradio.com,
Aural Innovations http://Aural-Innovations.com

…and perhaps there are others…thanks to all of you for your support!

Meanwhile, I decided that since 'indian girl' is over a year old you can get it for less now…IT IS NOW AVAILABLE for $ 13 - 13 tracks, $ 1 per track...that was my calculation...and of course there is always the digital option... check out ‘buy cd’…I’ve also started working on new material for my next album...hope to start recording by the end of this year…will keep you posted.

What else? Oh yes, the 'Out Trio' DVD is now available (Bozzio, Machacek, O'Hearn) at www.abstractlogix.com...Alex's website...www.alexmachacek.com? Almost ready...he's so busy working on his album...and I'm loving it...;)

Thanks for bearing with me...I'll get better at this, you'll see!

And enjoy the summer, wherever you may be!

Peace,
Sumitra

April 2005

First of all, I’d like to thank those who have politely suggested that I should consider updating my website…it has taken a while but I promise to make more of an effort in the future!

Secondly, I have to thank RO-see for being the best web mistress in the world! Besides having to deal with me and my indecisiveness, she has become a good friend and continues to put up with my madness…across the ocean…

Alex and I moved to LA, California towards the end of last year. It’s been quite an adventure and a huge learning experience for both of us. Every day is truly a new day as we continue to discover that life is full of little (and sometimes even big) surprises. Though one can easily feel completely lost in this huge city, being here has finally allowed me to stop wondering about what’s going to happen and to start making a conscious effort, to stop waiting and to start taking care of my business.

The internet has literally become my second home – I don’t know what I would do without it! I have found so many useful and helpful resources for independent artists, which have encouraged me to move on and to move forward. Check out my links…these are just a few that can hopefully help many of you.

Evidently, I had to come here to finally get DSL (yes, I lived with dial-up for many years…don’t even ask); I had to move here to realise that there are millions of people who are in the same boat and to just get on with my life! But it doesn’t matter where you are. This is what I love most about the internet…it enables you to think globally…wherever you may be.

As you can see from my calendar, we’ll be in Vienna fairly soon. I so look forward to performing there again and spending time with many dear friends. For those of you in the LA area, I hope I get to meet many of you soon at our upcoming gigs.

For all of Alex’s fans…I promise that he’ll get his website together very soon…there will be a new album, a DVD and lots of good stuff! Until then I shall post his dates on my calendar…May 6th and 7th are MUST dates for all fans of McHacek, Bozzio and Doug Lunn who will be performing at the Baked Potato in LA.

Thank you all for you continued support, belief, love and understanding,

Sumitra
